Hey!
I'm Charlie, a 27-year-old music journalist living and working in Manchester.
I'm originally from the West Country but moved up to Manchester mid-pandemic. The locality and regularity of live music here inspired me to write, which is pretty much what I've been doing since. I'm around 5 years in to my career as a music writer, having contributed to several online publications and podcasts.
I adore what I do - For me, there is no greater pleasure in life than watching a band and dissecting every detail of the evening, or the utter thrill of being sent a groundbreaking album weeks before release and pouring over it for days to learn every intricate detail. I relish interviews: researching an artist before getting a chance to delve into their creative process, record collection or musical upbringing is nothing short of life-affirming.
I've been lucky enough to appear in print for Gigwise (rip), as well as Riot Magazine, The Northern Chorus, Overblown and HOWL, where I form part of the editing team. I’ve also been able to play a part in some artist Q&A sessions at my local record shop (Bury’s finest, Wax and Beans) where I have spoken to Loose Articles in front of an audience after an in-store performance, Miki Berenyi and more.
Outside of music, I'm a huge Leeds United fan and engage in semi-regular football blogs.
